Arsenal make ‘concrete steps’ to sign £100m striker after Porto defeat

Arsenal have reportedly taken “concrete steps” to address their striking issues with the pursuit of a £100 million forward.

Galeno’s incredible last-minute goal sealed the Gunners’ 1-0 Champions League loss to Porto, a moment that perfectly summed up their own problems.

Even though Mikel Arteta’s team dominated the whole game, they were unable to generate a single shot on goal.

After Arsenal defeated Burnley 5-0 and West Ham United 6-0 in their most recent Premier League games, talk about buying a clinical finisher has cooled down a little.

After yet another lackluster performance in Europe, Arteta could be getting closer to his ideal offensive marksman.

The North Londoners are reportedly “confident” about acquiring Ivan Toney from Brentford this summer, according to Sport Italia journalist Rudy Galletti. The England international is reportedly valued at about £100 million by the Bees.

Thomas Frank recently made the audacious decision to reveal that Toney, who is entering the last year of his contract, will be leaving this summer. Arsenal, a rival team in London, is one of the favorites to sign him.

Despite Toney’s stellar form since rejoining Brentford, there doesn’t seem to be any new development in the drama, despite Galletti’s assertions.

Last night showed again why Arsenal need a prolific striker. Lack of a proper number nine could be the reason behind Arsenal’s elimination from the Champions League.

There is still a second leg to play against Porto, but the Portuguese team have an advantage now. They could sit back and defend their lead and try to hit the Gunners on the counter. Such tactic would favour Porto more than Arsenal.
