Ghana star Andre Ayew has equaled Rigobert Song’s record for most games played in Africa Cup of Nations history.
The Black Stars skipper climbed off the bench to make his 36th appearance in the competition in Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Mozambique on Monday evening.
He now shares the record with current coach and manager of Cameroon, Song who played for the indomitable Lions between 1998 and 2010. He also won 2 TotalEnergies CAF AFCON titles.
André Ayew had his first TotalEnergies CAF AFCON in 2008, hosted in his country, Ghana when he was just 18 years old.
Since then, he has only missed the 2013 edition, following an exclusion from coach James Kwesi Appiah’s team due to injury.
The Le Havre player has 119 caps with Ghana.
