Former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston believes the current crop of players are “experienced” and will not crumble under pressure at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars head to the tournament in Ivory Coast, which kick-starts on January 13, hoping to win their fifth continental title and end the 41-year wait trophy drought.
But there is less optimism due to their recent form and the introduction of new faces in the team.
Players including Inaki Williams, Mohammed Salisu, Abdul Salis Samed Wil be making their debut at the event.
“Each and every player in the Black Stars team have played at games in Europe and they have played under a lot of pressure and they experienced to as well,” Laryea told JoySports.
“So talking about pressure l don’t think pressure will disturb at the competition in Ivory Coast.”
Ghana are in Group B with Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde, whom they will face in their opener on January 14.
The Black Stars have not won the Afcon since 1982 and have come close twice in the last 13 years.
