Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mark Addo has emphasized the commitment of the GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide all essential resources to ensure the success of Coach Chris Hughton.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager signed a 21-month contract in March earlier this year, taking over from Otto Addo, who resigned following the Black Stars’ early exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Despite Hughton’s positive start with two draws and a win in his initial three games in charge, he faced pressure, including criticism from some GFA Executive Council members.
As Ghana prepares to face the Central African Republic (CAR) at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 7, Mark Addo has affirmed that neither the GFA nor the Ministry of Youth and Sports has any intention of dismissing Hughton.
According to him, they are fully committed to providing him with all the necessary resources for his success. He expressed, “Chris Hughton has our full support. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry have no intention to sack him. We will continue to provide him with the necessary resources to help get his work done.”
Ghana, currently leading Group E with nine points, requires either a draw or a win to secure their place in the tournament scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast next year.
