Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi says the lack of player belief is what is hindering the Black Stars from winning the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has not won the coveted trophy since 1982.
The closest the Black Stars came to winning the AFCON was in 2010 when a relatively unknown crop were beaten 1-0 in the dying minutes of the final by a more experienced Egyptian side in Angola.
The Black Stars placed a disappointing fourth in the subsequent edition of the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea where many were expecting the team to break the 30-year wait for the title.
The Ghana FA boss however says all things necessary to make a team win titles are intact with the Black Stars except the required belief on the part of the players to achieve it.
“Its belief, we have a good management, a good technical team and good players so what is left?†he told Joy Sports.
“We need to toughen them (players) psychologically and that is why we are bringing in the sports psychologist.
“They (players) must have the belief they can win the Nations Cup and this must show on the field of play.â€
Ghana will battle Malawi next month in the ultimate qualifier for the next Nations Cup to be hosted in South Africa in 2013 where again there will be an expectation on the team to win the tournament.
