Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie has kicked against the proposal for Premier League clubs to surrender their power to the autonomous league committee.

According to him, if the proposal made by the Statutes Review Committee is approved by Congress he will quit football.

“One thing I’ve heard that I hope it’s not true is that the statuses review committee have proposed an autonomous league where the membership of the premier division clubs will give their powers to the body called autonomous committee which will have a membership of five who will represent the premier division clubs in taking decision at congress.

“If these recommendations find favour at congress, I will quit football,” George Afriyie said.

The experienced football administrator shared these while speaking to Original FM on the Super Sports Show.

It is expected that the Ghana Premier League will go autonomous from next season going.

Once the league goes autonomous, it will be run by the autonomous committee.
