Cristiano Ronaldo is in ‘spectacular’ form ahead of the opening World Cup 2022 match against Ghana on Thursday, according to Portugal teammate Ruben Neves.
After missing last week’s friendly against Nigeria in Lisbon due to a stomach problem, Ronaldo trained normally on Saturday and is expected to be back in action against the Black Stars.
The Group H fixture is scheduled for the Stadium 974, Ras Abu Aboud city, Qatar.
“From what I’ve seen in training, he’s in spectacular shape,” Neves said in press conference on Sunday. “He doesn’t worry us at all, we as a team know perfectly well what we need to work on so that each individual stands out on gameday.”
This will be the first meeting between Portugal and Ghana since 2014 when the two teams played at the World Cup. Portugal ran out 2-1 winners back then.
