Asante Kotoko pocketed GH₵250,000 as prize money for clinching the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The Porcupine Warriors were officially crowned GPL champions at the Baba Yara stadium after their 3-0 win over Elmina Sharks on match week 33 on Sunday.
Coach Prosper Ogum’s side wrapped up the league title two weeks ago when they drew 1-1 with Ashanti Gold at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.
With one game left to end the 2021/22 season, Asante Kotoko have 66 points, 10 points ahead of second placed Medeama SC, making the last game against Accra Lions a formality.
This season’s triumph takes their league trophy haul to 24 – with their last Premier League title dating back to the 2013/14 campaign.
Kotoko received a trophy and 40 gold medals for their contingent.
The first and second runner ups will receive GH₵ 150,000, 40 silver medals and GH₵ 80,000, 40 bronze medals respectively.
By virtue of this achievement, Asante Kotoko will play in the 2022/23 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League as Ghana’s sole representative in Africa’s flagship club competition.
