On Thursday night, Koln hosts Nice at the RheinEnergieStadion in Group D of the Europa Conference League in what is a massive game that will decide which team will make the knockout stages of the competition.

Koln

The German team must win to have any hope of qualifying for the knockout stages, as the Billy Goats are currently in third place in the group, a point behind both leaders Partizan and Thursday night’s opponents.

Stefan Baumgart’s team has won just two of their games in Group D, which were against the group’s bottom team Slovacko. Koln has won three of their seven matches in the Europa League Conference overall.

Koln’s home record in the competition is also poor, as they have lost two of their three Europa Conference League matches on home soil. They have also conceded at least two goals in two of their three home games in the competition.

Nice

The visitors only need a point to book their place in the knockout stages of the competition. If the visitors better Partizan’s result in the other game, then Nice will progress as group winners, giving them an easier draw in the knockout stages.

Lucien Favre’s team has enjoyed an inconsistent campaign all-around this season. The French team have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five matches in the Europa Conference League.

Although Nice’s games haven’t always been high-scoring of late, both teams have scored in four of their previous five matches in the Europa Conference League.

Nice’s away record in this competition could not be more inconsistent, as they have won one, drawn one and lost one of their three away games.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that this game will produce a low-scoring draw, which would be enough to seal Nice’s place in the competition’s knockout stages.
