Former Asante Kotoko defender Zackaria Fuseini has rejoined Berekum Chelsea on a permanent deal, returning to the club for a third spell after leaving the Porcupine Warriors.
The 28-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Bibires during the ongoing transfer window. Berekum Chelsea confirmed the transfer on Friday through their official social media platforms, stating that Fuseini had joined from Asante Kotoko on a permanent basis.
Fuseini’s move brings an end to a difficult period at Asante Kotoko, where he made only 14 appearances in all competitions. The defender will now return to a club where he has previously played a prominent role, including serving as captain.
His latest move represents his third spell with Berekum Chelsea. Fuseini previously left the club in 2020 to join Spanish side San Fernando CD, beginning a period away from the Bibires before later returning to Ghanaian football with Asante Kotoko.
Berekum Chelsea will hope the experienced defender can rediscover his best form at a familiar club and become an important part of their preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The Bibires are expected to benefit from Fuseini’s previous knowledge of the club, as well as the leadership qualities he demonstrated during his earlier time in Berekum. His return gives the club an experienced option in defence as they prepare for the new campaign.
Fuseini’s limited involvement with Asante Kotoko means he will be looking to establish greater consistency and a more influential role after making 14 appearances during his time with the Porcupine Warriors. At Berekum Chelsea, he will have the opportunity to rebuild his career in surroundings he knows well.
The two-year agreement also provides the defender with a sustained opportunity to contribute to the club’s ambitions. Berekum Chelsea will expect him to help organise the defence, provide leadership within the squad and play a key role as they seek to compete strongly in the 2026/27 campaign.
The confirmed transfer completes Fuseini’s return to the Bibires and reunites the club with a player who has previously worn the captain’s armband. After his departures for San Fernando CD and Asante Kotoko, he will now begin another chapter at Berekum Chelsea with the expectation that his experience can strengthen the team.
