Former Ghana midfielder Yussif Alhassan Chibsah has appealed to supporters to put aside the frustration of the Chad draw and back the Black Stars in their crucial World Cup qualifier against Mali tonight.

The four-time African champions missed the chance to extend their lead in Group I after a 1-1 stalemate in N’Djamena, a result that has drawn sharp criticism from fans who questioned the players’ commitment.

With qualification hopes on the line, Chibsah says the team must focus on converting chances if they are to secure victory.

“The Black Stars have the whole country’s destiny in their pocket today and can’t afford to disappoint Ghanaians,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

“We have the boys; now it’s up to our strikers to take their chances against Mali today,” he added.

“Ghanaians should forget the pain of the Chad game and rally behind the Black Stars today.”

Chibsah, who currently serves as the PFAG’s head of player relations, was among the Black Stars legends who visited the team at the Alisa Hotel on Sunday night to inspire them ahead of the fixture.

The game against Mali kicks off at 7:00 pm GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
