The 2026 X1 Energy Drink Division One League (DOL) Super Cup begins at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium today, Monday, August 10, with eight of Ghana’s leading Division One clubs competing for the title.

The tournament brings together the strongest-performing teams from the three Division One League zones, along with the two highest-ranked third-placed sides. It is designed to give the clubs an opportunity to evaluate their squads, introduce new players and build their readiness for the upcoming league campaign.

The eight participating teams have been divided into two groups of four, with the top sides progressing to the semi-finals.

Group A consists of Debibi United FC, Real Tamale United FC, Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs FC and Attram De Visser FC. The section combines established Division One League campaigners with ambitious clubs seeking to make an early impression before the new season begins.

Group B features FC AshantiGold, Tamale City FC, Semper Fi FC and Nsuopon Fidelity FC. Those four teams will compete for the two semi-final places available from the group.

The competition is also the first edition to be held under the new partnership between the Ghana Football Association and X1 Energy Drink. The energy drink company is the headline sponsor of the Super Cup as part of a five-year agreement with the GFA.

The tournament is expected to provide a competitive curtain-raiser ahead of the new Division One League season. For the participating clubs, it offers an early chance to establish momentum, assess their preparations and begin positioning themselves for a promotion challenge to the Premier League.

The presence of clubs from all three Division One League zones, together with the two leading third-placed teams, gives the Super Cup a broad representation of the division’s top performers. Each side will therefore enter the competition with the opportunity to measure its progress against leading opponents before the league campaign gets under way.

With two groups of four, the opening phase will determine which teams remain in contention for the trophy and advance to the semi-finals. The group-stage contests will also allow managers to assess their available options and determine how their squads are shaping up for the demands of the season.

The 2026 edition begins at Obuasi Len Clay Stadium as the clubs compete for honours and seek to use the tournament as a launchpad for their Division One League ambitions.
