Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has expressed his satisfaction with the state of Ghanaian football, following a thrilling Round of 32 in this year’s MTN FA Cup. Arthur commended the level of competition and excitement witnessed during the matches, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the tournament.
“It’s been an exciting tournament so far,” Arthur remarked. “The Round of 32 showcased everything the MTN FA Cup stands for—intense competition, unexpected results, and memorable moments.”
He pointed to standout games, including True Democracy’s stunning victory over Dreams FC and FC Narnia’s surprise win against Accra Lions, as evidence of the tournament’s unpredictability.
Arthur also noted the impressive balance of teams advancing to the next stage, with eight Premier League sides and eight Division One teams making it to the Round of 16, which he believes reflects the growing competitiveness of Ghanaian football.
“I’ve received reports from across the country, and I must say I am proud of how far Ghana football has come,” he added. “The level of competition is impressive.”
Looking ahead to the next stage, Arthur stressed the need for proper planning to ensure smooth logistics and reduce travel costs for participating teams.
