Who will make England’s Euros squad? Latest odds

The European Championships are drawing near with England’s first game set to take place on June the 16th against Serbia and manager Gareth Southgate still has a lot of decisions to make on who is going to Germany this June.

Below we will go through the latest odds of the players to be named in the squad, whilst identifying some players who are knocking on the door.

Goalkeepers

This position seems to be the most straightforward to decide for Gareth Southgate. Jordan Pickford has been England’s number one for the best part of seven years, and there is no indication of change come this summer. Jordan Pickford is 1/20 to be named in the squad, the only way he won’t be in it would be through injury. With Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone looking to be the likely back-up with both at 2/7. Nick Pope is 6/4 due to his race against the clock having been out with injury.

Defenders

The current favoured defenders are John Stones (1/9), Kyle Walker (1/8), Trent Alexander-Arnold (1/7), Harry Maguire (1/5), and Kieran Trippier (1/4). After that comes Marc Guehi at 1/3 and Lewis Dunk at 4/7 to be named the replacement centre-backs. They are ahead of the likes of Levi Colwill (8/13), Jarrad Branthwaite (6/4) and Fikayo Tomori (13/8), in the market.

The left-back position is arguably the most in the balance due to Luke Shaw currently being sidelined, although he is expected to be back in time. Shaw sits at 2/5 to head to Germany, with Ben Chilwell (8/15) the likely back up at this current time, but the Chelsea man isn’t playing his best football at the moment. This gives the likes of Rico Lewis the opportunity to throw his hat in the ring, at a price of 6/4.

Midfielders

The shoo-ins, based on odds, to make the midfield set-up include Jude Bellingham (1/12) Declan Rice (1/12) and James Maddison 1/3. Conor Gallagher seems to be in a strong position to be the replacement box-to-box midfielder at 8/15. There seems to be competition for the more defensive role within the midfield between Jordan Henderson (4/7), Kalvin Phillips (8/11) and Manchester United newcomer Kobbie Mainoo (10/11).

Other midfielders who are short in the market with chances include Eberechi Eze (6/4), James Ward-Prowse (10/3), Curtis Jones (7/2) and Ross Barkley (11/2), all of which have had good seasons at their clubs.

Forwards

Subject to injuries, the forwards look to certainly include Harry Kane (1/16), Bukayo Saka (1/12), Phil Foden (1/10), Ollie Watkins (1/4), Jack Grealish (1/4) and Marcus Rashford (4/11). However, there are some players knocking on the door, primarily Chelsea star Cole Palmer who is 1/2 to make the Euros squad. Jarrod Bowen, who has also been in superb form, has shortened and price and is 6/5 to make Gareth Southgate’s final squad selection.

Upcoming friendlies

England are back in action in March with Gareth Southgate set to confirm his squad for two friendlies that could give the opportunity for some others to prove their worth. Southgate will name his squad for the two friendlies at 2pm GMT on Thursday 14 March. Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold are doubts due to injury, while Manchester United pair Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw and Newcastle right back Kieran Trippier are currently sidelined.
