England are heading to Germany this summer hoping to go one better than last time and lift the Euro 2024 trophy.
Gareth Southgate’s side lost in the final three years ago to Italy and head into this tournament with huge expectations on their shoulders.
With impressive performances in the last three major tournaments, this golden generation is good enough to win something, but can they finally get it right?
As the Euros draw closer, questions are being asked about which players Southgate will decide to take and who will start the first game.
England have been drawn in Group C and face Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia, and kick off their campaign against Aleksandar Mitrovic and co on Sunday, June 16.
Southgate has some tough decisions to make, which proves just how much quality England has. He will name the preliminary squad for the tournament on Tuesday, May 21 just two days after the Premier League season finishes.
This squad is expected to be bigger than the final 23 and will give players a chance to impress the manager in friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland.
The final 23-man squad then needs to be confirmed by Sunday, June 8, with the tournament due to begin the week after.
Questions have been asked of England in recent games after a defeat to Brazil and a draw with Belgium.
Since Southgate took charge, England have won just four out of 26 against teams ranked in the world’s top 10.
However, Southgate will be hoping that his players can put that behind them now that they have experience of going deep into tournaments.
