South Korea forward Hwang Hee-chan has sent an early warning to the Black Stars, insisting the Taegeuk Warriors are fully fired up to end 2025 on a high when they meet Ghana at the Kirin Cup.
The Wolves striker admitted it has been a testing period for both club and country, but says Korea will approach the Ghana fixture with maximum intensity as they build toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Ghana is a very strong team… this is an important match for us,” Hwang told Telecom Asia in an exclusive interview.
Korea lost their last home game against Brazil and see the clash with Ghana as a chance to restore confidence and send a message to the fans.
“The last time we played at home, we lost to Brazil. Now is the time to make a good result and put in a strong performance,” he added.
Ghana, meanwhile, are hoping to bounce back after Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Japan as Otto Addo continues testing new combinations and fresh talent ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Hwang, however, believes South Korea will be highly motivated, especially with this being their final international match of the year.
“It’s our last game of the year, so we want to finish well,” he stressed.
His comments indicate Ghana should expect a determined, high-energy Korean side ready to prove a point s; etting up a fiercely competitive encounter if the two nations meet.
