Nana Oduro Sarfo, an Executive Council member has publicly supported the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to retain Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars.
This move has raised eyebrows, considering the team’s poor performance under Addo’s leadership, including failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and a six-game winless streak.
Despite the pressure to dismiss Addo, the GFA believes he is still the right person to lead the team.
“When Milo was sacked along that line, if you’ve listened to our tone, we were saying we’ve seen progression of him and they [Ghanaians] says no, sack him,” Sarfo told Guide Sports.
“So pressure was put on us to sack the coach and we did. This time, we will not allow anybody to put pressure on us to sack a coach.
“We’ve seen coaches who have failed in one, two, and done well in their third [year] and we gave this young man [Otto Addo] a job to do.
The restructuring sees German tactician Winfried Anton Schafer stepping in as Technical Advisor, working alongside Head Coach Otto Addo. Desmond Ofei joins as Assistant Coach, with Belgian analyst Gregory De Grauwe leading the Video Analysis Unit.
Psychological support will come from Kris Perquy, while Issah Amadou and Abdul Rahman Alhassan take charge as Equipment Officers.
The new technical team will kick off work at March in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
