With just four games left in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, Heart of Lions are chasing history as they mount a late push for the title.
Currently joint second per points on the table and trailing leaders Nations FC by just one point, the Kpando-based club is on the brink of becoming the first team from the Volta Region to win the Ghana Premier League.
Their dramatic rise is led by head coach Bashir Hayford, who has instilled belief and consistency in a side that narrowly avoided relegation last season.
Striker Nana Kwame Oppong remains central to their success, having netted 11 goals so far. The in-form forward is also in contention for the league’s golden boot.
In an exclusive interview with Max tv, Hayford stressed that while the team is focused on winning the title, their approach remains level-headed.
“We want to win the league, no doubt. But we’re not desperate,” he said. “We are approaching the remaining four matches just like the others. The players are focused and motivated to go the extra mile.”
He added that the team’s unity and the expectations of their supporters have fueled their push this season.
“They know what our fans want, and that alone inspires them to fight for something bigger.”
Heart of Lions’ title bid is already being hailed as one of the season’s most inspiring stories ; and they may yet write the perfect ending.
