The President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku says his outfit would look to work with the new Black Stars coach for a long period of time.
He said this at a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday where the GFA sought to answer questions about Ghana’s abysmal performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
“When we find the new set of trainers, it is our collective decision to stay with them for a long haul and all our national teams,” he said.
Ghana exiting the tournament means the GFA sacked Chris Hughton and his coaching staff and the search for a new coach is underway.
The GFA has set up a five member search committee to find the new coach and has given three weeks to do so. Over 600 coaches have reportedly applied for the job.
Ghana missed out on a place in the Round of 16 after finishing third in a group consisting of Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.
The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Cape Verde before back-to-back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique confirmed Ghana’s elimination from the tournament.
