Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has sparked a heated debate in the Ghanaian football fraternity with his scathing assessment of the current Black Stars coaching setup led by Otto Addo.
Speaking in a recent interview with Promise TV, Adongo expressed his discontent with the team’s leadership, stating bluntly, “We have a coach at Black Stars? I don’t think so.”
Ghana is winless in six matches which saw them fail to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
“We have a coach at Black Stars? I don’t think so. We need a coach who truly has the Black Stars at heart, not someone who sees it as a second option,” Adongo said.
Following the disappointing showing, the GFAnamed Winfried Schäfer as technical advisor, with Desmond Offei joining as assistant coach.
Belgian analyst Gregory De Grauwe will head the Video Analysis Unit while Kris Perquy will provide psychological support.
The new technical team will begin their work in March when Ghana face Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
