We gave Martin Koopman full responsibility over player selection – Hearts of Oak board

Accra Hearts of Oak’s board has responded emphatically to Dutch coach Martin Koopman’s recent allegations, asserting that they had bestowed upon him full responsibility over player selection.

This rebuttal comes on the heels of Koopman’s departure from the Phobians following a string of disappointing results, with the Dutchman suggesting that the board had imposed restrictions on certain players.

Speaking at a press conference held today 4th December 2023 the board stated that Martin Koopman was given full control over player selection and he used 28 players.

“Koopman was solely in charge of player selection in the team. He was given full responsibility,” the board said.

“We want to put on record that by the time we played our seventh league match, Koopman had used 28 players except two who were on the injury list,”

The Phobians are currently 9th on the league table with 16 points after 13 games.

Accra Hearts of Oak will take on arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in their next league game and will hope to return to winning ways after losing to Aduana FC in the matchday 12 games.
