Wakaso honoured by Black Stars AFCON call

Mubarak Wakaso feels honoured with his call into the provisional Ghana squad for the 2013 Africa cup of Nations.

The Espanyol midfielder earned a spot in the Black Stars26-man  squad after impressing in just his second game for the side in the 1-0 win over Cape Verde in an international friendly.

The 22-year-old hard tackler is now thankfull for the confidence reposed in him and says he will do his best not to disappoint.

“I am very excited by this call but at the same time humbled by this honour done me,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“I pledge to even do more to further prove I deserve this chance.

“I therefore want to thank everyone and urge for their continued support and prayers as we try to achieve something for the nation.”

Wakaso will however need to fight for a place in the final squad during the Black Stars’ training camp in Abu Dhabi.

Ghana looks to end a 31-year wait for an African title by the time the competition kicks off early next year in South Africa.
