Valerenga vs Rosenborg BK – 29/05/2022

Low-scoring affair between Valerenga and Rosenborg

2314

This weekend’s action in the Norwegian top flight is wrapped up on Sunday evening with this upcoming encounter between 10th placed hosts Valerenga and their 7th placed visitors, Rosenborg, with just a point separating the two teams prior to this meeting at the Intility Arena.

Valerenga will be keen to kick-start their Eliteserien campaign as the hosts are without a win from their last four outings overall.

They’ve also lost three of these matches with defeats against Tromso, Stromsgodset and Lillestrom, but it is worth noting that all three of these losses were incurred away from home.

Switch to results away from home and you get a very different story where Valerenga are concerned as the hosts are unbeaten so far this season in their opening three games of the new campaign and includes wins against Haugesund and Jerv, along with a point against HamKam.

The bigger picture shows Valerenga are also unbeaten in their last 16 matches on home soil at their Intility Arena although goals may be in short supply in this upcoming clash as nine of these 16 games have been under 2.5 goals.

Rosenborg have been involved in a number of draws already this season as the visitors have drawn five out of their eight league games to date in this new Eliteserien season, with three of these five stalemates also producing fewer than 3 goals as well.

Rosenborg have picked up a couple of wins in the process as well, beating the likes of Odd and Sandefjord but both of these victories were achieved on home soil at their Lerkendal Stadion while wins away from home continue to elude the visitors for the most part.

Indeed, the visitors have picked up just one win out of their last nine outings on the road which came in the form of a 3-1 win away at Stabaek towards the end of last season but they are still waiting to open their account on their travels in this season’s campaign following three draws and a defeat.

Interestingly, two of the three draws were also under 2.5 goals, drawing 1-1 at Sarpsborg and 1-1 at HamKam.

Four out of the previous five meetings between these two sides have resulted in under 2.5 goals and this trend may well continue on Sunday evening.
