Sampdoria are bottom of the Serie A standings and headed to Serie B for the 2023-24 season. Eleven points separate Sampdoria from relegation safety and it is unlikely they will rescue their campaign with nine games remaining.
Lecce are 16th in the standings with 27 points from 29 matches. Five points separate Lecce from the bottom three. Lecce are fortunate that the trio of Hellas Verona, Cremonese, and Sampdoria is as bad as it is. Otherwise, Lecce would be in far more trouble.

The Giallorossi posted a 2-0 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris earlier this season. Lorenzo Colombo and Lameck Banda scored goals in the second half to give Lecce the win. It was the clubs’ first meeting since 2020.
Lecce are on a run of terrible form, which is the worst in Serie A. The Giallorossi picked up zero points from the last 18 points on offer in the league. They scored one goal in their last six matches, conceding nine times.
Coach Marco Baroni is still in the job at Lecce. His contract expires in the offseason, which is likely the reason Lecce are resisting sacking the head coach.
Sampdoria didn’t do much better in their last six matches in Serie A. The Blucerchiati picked up four points from the last six matches. Only Lecce took fewer points in the last six matches.
The Blucerchiati conceded 12 goals and scored seven in those six fixtures. Sampdoria are coming off a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Cremonese at home last weekend. Sampdoria led 2-1 in the 85th minute, but somehow conceded twice in the final minutes to lose the fixture.
Lecce are on a three-game losing streak at home going into round 30. Sampdoria are on a three-match losing streak on the road. Neither team is in good form, which could make this match difficult to watch for some fans.
Lecce’s Kastriot Dermaku and Mario Pongracic are both doubts to make the team. The pair is struggling with leg injuries. Right-wing Garbriel Strefezza leads Lecce with seven Serie A goals.
Sampdoria coach Dejan Stankovic has four players in the treatment room. Abdelhamid Sabiri could miss following an illness.
Emil Audero is out with a should injury. Defender Andrea Conti could miss with an ankle problem and Ignacio Pussetto has a knee injury that could keep him out of action.
Lecce should do the Serie A double over Sampdoria with a 3-1 win at home. The Giallorossi may be on a losing run of form, but Sampdoria are mentally beaten already. Lecce should take the spoils.
