Uganda has turned to Ghanaian tactician Laryea Kingston to lead its men’s youth football project.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed Kingston’s appointment as Head Coach of all national junior men’s teams on a two-year contract.
The former Ghana international, who holds both UEFA A and CAF B coaching licenses, is expected to oversee the technical development and performance of Uganda’s next generation of footballers across various age categories.
FUFA CEO Edgar Watson announced the appointment in Kampala, describing it as part of the federation’s broader plan to strengthen its youth structures and harness international expertise.
Kingston’s arrival comes just months after he stepped down as Ghana’s U-17 head coach following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2024 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Since then, he has been working in the United States with RPS Academies in Saint Lucie, Florida, where he continues to develop young talents.
Meanwhile, current U-17 coach Brian Ssenyondo will retain his position through next month’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, his final assignment at that level before moving to a different national team role.
