Black Starlets of Ghana opened their four-nation tournament campaign in Volgograd with a 3-1 defeat to Russia on Wednesday.
It didn’t not take long for the host to break the deadlock and quickly went three up before halftime.
Shilov Vadim scored for the Russians side in the 4th minute, followed by Daniil Kiselev’s strike in the 31st minute.
Zakhar Chushkin sealed the victory in the 34th minute.
Ernest Ofori, came off the bench to score a consolation for the Black Starlets .
Coach Laryea Kingston’s team, keen on evaluating their strengths, is gearing up for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 tournament in Accra next month.
Ghana will play their next match vs Serbia U16 on Friday 8:00 am and face Kazakhstan before returning to Accra to intensify preparations for the WAFU Zone B U17 Cup of Nations.
