Spokesperson of Turkish side Hatayspor has provided an update on the search for Ghanaian international Christian Atsu and Sporting Director Taner Savut.
The duo are among several hundreds of people believed to be trapped under the rubble following the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey on Monday morning.
Atsu had just yesterday climbed off the bench to score 97th minute winner for Hatayspor against Kasimpasa.
A search and rescue operation is still ongoing to find the former Chelsea star and the club’s Sporting Director as soon as possible.
“We could not reach Taner Savut. We know that he is under the rubble. We could not reach Atsu, we learned that his building has turned into a wreck,” said the spokesperson of Hatayspor, Mustafa Özat
“Thank God, Burak Öksüz and Bertuğ were pulled out from under the rubble. Kerim Alici came out with his own means,” he added
Atsu joined the Super Lig club from Saudi side Al-Raed last summer.
