French Ligue 1 newcomers Troyes are in negotiations to sign Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini from Union Saint-Gilloise, with a loan deal with an option to buy currently being discussed.
Belgian outlet Voetbalnieuws.be reports that Troyes are the most concrete option for the 24-year-old as the transfer window enters its final stages. The French club are understood to favour a temporary move that would include the possibility of a permanent transfer, while Union SG would prefer to sell Fuseini outright.
The talks will determine whether Fuseini stays in Belgium or begins a new chapter in France after initially being expected to play a more prominent role for the Belgian champions this season.
Union SG signed Fuseini from Danish club Randers FC in 2024 for a reported fee of €2 million. The striker remains under contract with the Belgian side until 2028 and is valued at about €2.5 million by Transfermarkt.
Fuseini has featured regularly for Union since his arrival, earning attention for his pace, movement and ability to play in several positions across the frontline. His potential departure comes despite the club having anticipated a greater contribution from him during the current campaign.
Troyes, meanwhile, are seeking to strengthen their attacking options as they prepare for a return to France’s top flight. The club’s promotion means they will be competing in Ligue 1, and Fuseini has emerged as a target as they assemble their squad for life back at the highest level.
A loan with an option to buy would give Troyes the opportunity to assess Fuseini before making a permanent commitment. Union SG’s preference for an outright sale could, however, prove significant as the discussions continue and the clubs work towards an agreement on the final terms.
Fuseini has also established himself at international level with Ghana. He has won two caps for the Black Stars and has scored once for his country.
The forward’s contract situation gives Union SG a degree of control over the negotiations, with his deal running for a further three years until 2028. The Belgian club must now decide whether to retain him for the season or accept a permanent transfer, while Troyes weigh up whether a loan arrangement is the best way to complete the deal.
With the close of the transfer window approaching, negotiations between Troyes and Union SG are expected to establish the structure of any move and decide where Fuseini will play next.
