Transfer guru gives ‘important update’ on ‘absolutely gutted’ Paul Pogba with one club leading the way

Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race to sign Paul Pogba on a free transfer after Ralf Rangnick confirmed the Frenchman will not be staying with Manchester United.

Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season and it is no surprise that he is leaving Old Trafford. However now that Rangnick has confirmed the news, Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola can step up the process. And it is PSG who are in the box seat.

“As things stand, Pogba will not renew his contract with Manchester United,” Rangnick said ahead of the defeat to Arsenal. “It is most likely that he won’t be here anymore next season.”

Pogba was missing as United slipped to a 3-1 defeat against the Gunners. In the aftermath of the defeat Pogba tweeted that he hopes to return before the season is out.

“Absolutely gutted to not be able to help the team in today’s game,” he said. “I will work harder to come back even stronger and hopefully before the end of the season. It’s not over. Thank you for all your support. United we would stand!”

However Rangnick has suggested Pogba has played his last game for United. And now it remains to be seen where he will play next season.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano a number of clubs are in the hunt. Speaking during an “important update” on his YouTube channel, Romano believes Pogba’s future will be decided in the coming weeks.

He says Raiola will now set about finding the best move for his client. Romano is keen to point out that a deal is not done and dusted. Interest in Pogba will be rife and Raiola will speak to many clubs. But PSG are in the box seat.

Romano does suggest that much could depend on the future of Mauricio Pochettino. PSG confirmed a record-equaling 10th French title with four games to spare  when they drew 1-1 with Lens on Saturday.

However the Champions League exit against Real Madrid could still cost Pochettino. Securing the future of Kylian Mbappe is also a priority.

“Paris Saint-Germain from what I am told show a serious interest in Paul Pogba,” Romano revealed. “They have had conversations with Mino Raiola but it is not advanced or completed with Paris Saint-Germain. It is just a conversation and an approach.

“Paris Saint-Germain are waiting to see what happens with the manager and the project for next season. They also have a priority for Kylian Mbappe and then they will enter for other deals. For Paris Saint-Germain he is one of the names on the list.”
