Leicester linked with £30m midfielder as Brendan Rodgers plans squad revamp

Leicester City are reported be lining up a swoop for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare after he caught the eye of Brendan Rodgers when the two sides met in the Europa Conference League.

Rodgers is said to be planning a revamp of his Foxes midfield when the transfer window re-opens. And according to reports the Foxes boss is keen on Sangare. Although he will not come cheap with a price-tag of £30m.

Leicester face a busy summer with Rodgers said to be keen on signing six new players. There will also be departures to balance the books and midfield is an area that needs attention.

Leicester to lose Tielemans

The Foxes look set to lose Youri Tielemans during the window. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked and Leicester are ready to cash in.

The 24-year-old has just over one year remaining on his current deal. The Belgian wants Champions League football and the exit door beckons.

This could be the last chance for Leicester to get a good fee for him. £40m is said to be the price-tag and that would give Rodgers enough to land Sangare.

Speculation is also rife regards the future of James Maddison. Leicester will be determined to keep hold but offers of £70m could tempt them to cash in. Hamza Choudhury is another that could be on the move, along with Dennis Praet. So new midfielders are definitely on the wanted list.

Reports claim that Leicester have made contact with PSV to register their interest in Sangare. The 24-year-old caught the eye when playing in both legs of the Europa clash.

Leicester went through to set up a semi-final showdown with Italian outfit AS Roma. But Sangare left an impression on Rodgers and he would love to get him on board next season.

Sangare in demand

There is no shortage of interest in Sangare though and Leicester would face competition. Aston Villa are known to be tracking the Ivory Coast midfielder and will rival Leicester for his signature.

Not only that, money-bags Newcastle are keen. Eddie Howe’s men were in the hunt back in the January transfer window. They could not get a deal over the line but could resurrect their interest this summer.

Sangare has all the attributes to be a big hit in the Premier League. He also stands at 6ft 3in and is handy for set-pieces at either end of the pitch. Something that would appeal to Rodgers as Leicester have struggled in that area.
