The French Ligue 1 action continues on Sunday and features this upcoming clash between newly promoted Toulouse and Lorient at the Stadium de Toulouse with the hosts looking to build upon their promising start to this nee Ligue 1 season.
Toulouse claimed the Ligue 2 title at the end of the last French second tier campaign with a four-point cushion over the runners-up, Ajaccio, and Sunday’s hosts have picked up where they left off at the end of the last term into this new domestic top flight season as they have picked up four points from their opening two games.

An opening day 1-1 draw at home with Nice handed Toulouse a solid and valuable point but they would go onto emulate that result in their subsequent match as they recorded a comprehensive 3-0 win on the road at Troyes, so confidence is expected to be high in the Toulouse camp.
Toulouse will know the importance of keeping things tight at the back this season as they look to secure their top flight status this term and having kept clean sheets in 47% of their home games last season, the hosts are expected to be a stubborn prospect here.
Toulouse are likely to be missing midfielder Ngoumou with a hamstring injury but that’s the only absentee for the hosts.
Lorient finished last season in a disappointing 16th place in the Ligue 1 standings and narrowly avoided being involved in the relegation/promotion play-off by a margin of just four points thanks to picking up points in draws with Bordeaux and Troyes in their final two games of the previous campaign.
The visitors will therefore be eager to avoid another narrow escape this time around in this new Ligue 1 season and they made a positive start to this new campaign when they produced a shock 1-0 win away from home at Rennes in last weekend’s season opener.
However, league wins have been fairly sparse where Lorient have been concerned, picking up just three wins out of their last 11 games overall, while also picking up just three wins from their previous 35 outings on the road in the top flight as well.
Five of Lorient’s last eight away games have also resulted in under 2.5 goals and another low-scoring affair may unfold away at Toulouse on Sunday as well.
