Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet has expressed admiration for Ghana boss Otto Addo, saying he would be open to working alongside him in the future despite their recent World Cup qualifying clash.
The two tacticians faced off in Accra earlier this month, where the Black Stars sealed a dramatic 1-0 victory over Mali thanks to Alexander Djiku’s late strike.
The win kept Ghana on top of Group I in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, while Mali’s route to the finals now depends on the playoffs.
Speaking in an interview with Adom TV, Saintfiet revealed his respect for Addo’s work with the national team. “I would be glad to work with Otto Addo in Black Stars’ coaching,” the Belgian coach said.
Saintfiet, who guided Gambia to consecutive Africa Cup of Nations appearances, is no stranger to Ghanaian football.
He previously held talks with the Ghana Football Association about taking charge of the Black Stars before Addo was eventually appointed in 2024.
Although rivals on the touchline for now, Saintfiet’s remarks highlight the mutual respect between the two managers as they continue their pursuit of World Cup qualification.
