Former Ghana U17 defender Najeed Yakubu starred for Niger in their 2023 AFCON qualifying game against Algeria on Monday evening.

The 22-year-old lasted 90 minutes for the West Africans who suffered a 1-0 loss to the Desert Foxes of Algeria at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades in Tunisia.

Najeed, who plays for the Finnish Veikkausliiga side Ilves, excelled in defence with a splendid performance spotting the No. 24 jersey in the game.
