German-Ghanaian defender Jan Gyamerah says he’s eager to start fresh after signing a two-year contract with SV Elversberg from FC Kaiserslautern.
The 30-year-old full-back brings experience and versatility to the 2. Bundesliga newcomers, having racked up exactly 200 appearances in Germany’s second tier.
“SV Elversberg has shown in recent years that you can achieve a lot with clear ideas and team spirit,” Gyamerah said. “For me, the move is the right step at the right time – I’m looking forward to becoming part of this journey and starting the new season together with the team.”
Born in Berlin, Gyamerah rose through the ranks at Arminia Bielefeld and VfL Bochum, where he made his professional debut. He went on to play for Hamburg, Nürnberg; where he occasionally captained the side and most recently Kaiserslautern, where he made 23 league appearances last season.
At Elversberg, Gyamerah is expected to be a key figure as the club looks to establish itself in the second division.
