Charlton Athletic boss Ben Garner believes Jes Rak-Sakyi’s goal against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday will boost his confidence for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Crystal Palace missed several goalscoring chances before netting the game’s only goal in the EFL League One.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was substituted in the 88th minute. He has played 12 games, scored three goals and assisted two in the Championship this season.
“I had a good chat with him this week. I said ‘if you’re not getting opportunities then we’d have to look at things, but you keep getting there. Just got to keep getting there and trust your technique’. That will do him the world of good. He’s done great so far,” Ben Garner said after the game.
The result made it three wins on the spin for Charlton Athletic – with their eight-game winless run preceding that now a distant memory.
The Addicks climb to seventh in the League One table, two points off the top six.
