Yartey launched a bitter attack on Tetteh’s credibility by claiming the national Under-20 coach picked his final 21-man squad for the World Youth Championships based on who had money to offer a bribe. But Tetteh says the allegations are absurd and the ranting of a player bitterly disappointed at missing out on one of the most important youth tournaments. “On the left side of attack where Yartey play, there is the captain Dede Ayew and Opoku Agyemang who has played for the Black Stars and can play there. I picked which players will go to Egypt based on the needs of the team and in the past I have been proven right,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “We are focused on doing well at the World Cup so I won’t let this distract the team.” Tetteh’s squad is dominated by players who clinched the African Youth title for Ghana in Rwanda earlier this year yet Yartey claimed Tetteh had been induced to pick certain names. “Sellas Tetteh is destroying the future of Ghana football because it is common knowledge that some of the players in the squad are not there on merit,” the Portugal based player told Asempa FM. “We all know how managers and agents have influenced his final decision and players who should be truly representing the country have been left out. “I am not saying this because I am hurt to have been dropped but as a true Ghanaian I won’t stand aloof to watch our country destroyed because of the selfish interest of one person.”
