Tanzania has made history at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, booking their spot in the Round of 16 for the first time ever without winning a single game.

The Taifa Stars secured their place among the best third-placed teams with a 1-1 draw against Tunisia, finishing with two points from their group stage matches.

Feisal Salum’s powerful strike in the 47th minute leveled the score after Tunisia’s Ismael Gharbi converted a penalty in the 43rd minute.

Tanzania’s qualification marks a significant milestone for East African football, edging out Angola on goals scored with three goals to Angola’s two.

Tanzania will face hosts Morocco in the Round of 16 on January 4, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

This historic achievement is a testament to the team’s resilience and tactical discipline, making it a proud moment for Tanzanian football.
