Ghana head coach Otto Addo is calling on Ghanaians to support the national team as they aim to secure qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This call for support follows the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a 1-1 draw with Angola last Friday.
Coach Addo remains focused on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and has decided to shift attention to the next challenge after the setback in the AFCON qualifiers.
“I understand that people are disappointed, maybe angry. I was also disappointed, but surely we have to move on now,”
“We need to do our best to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers, and it starts tomorrow.
“If Ghanaians want us to go to the World Cup, you need to support us,” he said.
The Black Stars are in second place in Group I of the World Cup qualifying campaign, tied on points with group leaders Comoros.
Only the top team in the group will advance to the tournament.
Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar in March 2025.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick-off in Mexico, USA and Canada respectively.
