Former Medeama SC forward Jonathan Sowah has revealed that he was offered the opportunity by Tanzanian officials to switch nationality and represent their national team.
The 26-year-old striker, now playing for Singida Black Stars in Tanzania’s top-flight league, has impressed in his debut season, scoring 13 goals in 13 matches.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Sowah confirmed the request but made it clear that his heart remains with Ghana.
“Tanzania has contacted me to naturalise for them, but I told them I have not done anything for the country,” he said.
“I am determined to make my country happy by playing for the Black Stars.”
Sowah made his debut for the Ghana national team in a 2023 friendly against Liberia.
He joined Singida Black Stars from Libyan club Al Nasr and remains hopeful of earning another call-up to the Black Stars.
