Sixteen (16) promising young referees, from the Catch Them Young Refereeing Policy, have been selected to officiate the upcoming Division One League (DOL) Super Cup tournament.
All the referees, who are boys, have been meticulously chosen from across the ten regions of Ghana.
This year, the DOL Super Cup tournament will be held in Nsoatre, located in the Brong Ahafo Football Region. This marks the fourth edition of the tournament, which serves as a pre-season competition for Division One clubs, allowing teams to prepare for the upcoming league season.
The ‘Catch Them Young Referees’ initiative aims to provide a platform for young referees to, first, be discovered and then to develop their skills and gain valuable experience.
These teenage referees have been involved in officiating the Division One League Super Cup since its inception, ensuring that participating teams adhere to the principles of fair play and appropriate conduct.
The tournament is not only about the competition among the clubs but also about creating an enabling environment for young referees to sharpen their skills.
By handling high-stakes matches in a competitive setting, these young referees can develop the confidence and expertise required for their future careers in officiating.
The selection of these 16 young referees underscores the GFA’s commitment to nurturing future talent and ensuring the continuous improvement of officiating standards in Ghana football.
As they take to the field in Nsoatre, these referees will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and excitement of the DOL Super Cup tournament.
