Antoine Semenyo has made history as the first Ghanaian player to score 13 goals in a single Premier League season, netting a goal in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Fulham on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old forward, who joined City from Bournemouth in January, scored in the 24th minute, becoming the highest-scoring Ghanaian in a single top-flight season, surpassing Tony Yeboah and André Ayew’s joint record of 12 goals.
Semenyo’s impressive form has continued since joining City, with five goals and two assists in eight appearances.
He also set up Nico O’Reilly for City’s second goal before Erling Haaland sealed the win with a third goal before half-time.
The result moves City within three points of Premier League leaders Arsenal, putting pressure on the Gunners to secure a win against Brentford on Thursday.
Semenyo’s achievement is a testament to his seamless adaptation to Pep Guardiola’s team and his growing influence in the Premier League.
