Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex will augment their squad ahead of their debut participation in the CAF Champions League next season, the club’s gaffer Nurudeen Amadu said.
The Timber Boys will represent Ghana in the CAF inter-club competition after winning the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League campaign with two matches to go.
It was a topsy-turvy campaign for Samartex FC, but they managed to navigate their way to the crown, defeating Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 on Sunday.
“While we are still celebrating, management will meet later to talk about strengthening the team with more seasoned players traveling to Africa, as the majority of our players are from lower divisions,” Amadu told Akoma FM in an interview.
“We’ll attempt to emulate Medeama and Dreams FC in Africa and see if we can accomplish their feats. If we don’t succeed, that’s okay, but I believe their actions should serve as inspiration for us to compete in Africa,” he added.
In the remaining fixtures, FC Samatex will visit Karela United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex before concluding the season at home against Accra Lions.
