Richie Laryea finally made his debut for Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, coming on as a 79th-minute substitute in Monday’s 4-0 win over West Brom.
The right-back from Canada joined the Championship side in January for £818,000 from Toronto FC.
With five games remaining, Forest is now in fifth place with 70 points. Forest is seven points behind second-placed Bournemouth in the race for the last automatic promotion position.
They are five points ahead of seventh-placed Millwall and have two games in hand on the Lions.
The Championship’s third-to-sixth-place clubs compete in a playoff for the last promotion berth at the end of the season. Forest is now joined in the playoff spots by Huddersfield, Luton Town, and Sheffield United.
The 27-year-old made his debut for Canada in 2019, he has made 25 appearances and scored one goal.
