The fallout from René Hiddink’s unlawful dismissal continues to rock Accra Hearts of Oak as the club’s response to their FIFA-imposed transfer ban has been branded “absolute nonsense” by Hiddink’s lawyer, David Winnie.
FIFA sanctioned the Phobians with a three-transfer-window ban after they failed to pay over $150,000 plus interest in compensation to Hiddink, their former Technical Director, whose contract was terminated less than a year into a three-year deal.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Winnie slammed the club’s handling of the case and described their latest statement — in which Hearts claimed they were engaging FIFA, the GFA, and Hiddink’s camp for a possible settlement — as dishonest.
“No chance. Absolutely no chance. That time has passed. I saw that statement, and it’s complete rubbish. That’s how the club has behaved throughout this case — dishonest, lying, never acting in good faith.”
“René asked many times for an explanation as to why he wasn’t being paid correctly, but the club simply refused. Almost from the very beginning, the club acted very badly towards him. Honestly, it was like a disaster waiting to unfold.”
