There’s further action from the French top flight on Sunday in Ligue 1 and features this upcoming clash between 12th placed Reims and 8th placed Lens, when the two teams meet at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II with Lens still in the frame for a possible top five finish.

Looking at Reims first, and the hosts have eased their relegation worries by picking up two wins in their last three matches in Ligue 1 by the way of victories over Lille and Lorient.

And these welcome wins have helped lift Reims 12 points clear of the relegation zone with just three games remaining of this season’s Ligue 1 campaign.

However, Reims have picked up just these two wins out of their last seven matches overall, while recent defeats to Troyes, Rennes and Marseille may just keep Lens interested here.

The hosts have also won just once in their last six games on home soil at their Stade Auguste-Delaune II.

Indeed, home wins have been a bit of a problem for Reims who have captured just five victories from their last 26 home games, whilst also drawing 12 of these matches.

Lens sit in 8th place and find themselves five points adrift of 5th placed Nice and the top five pack in Ligue 1 ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

But nevertheless, the visitors could still yet claim a top five finish this term.

Other results obviously need to go their way, but having put together a solid five-match unbeaten run in the French top flight which includes three wins and two draws, Lens will be in confident mood as they prepare for this upcoming encounter.

Recent wins against Nice, Lille and Montpellier are not to be sniffed at either, while Lens have produced reasonable results away from home as well, losing just twice in their last seven outings on the road.

Earlier wins at St Etienne and Angers have offset the losses incurred at Lorient and Strasbourg and the visitors have also held their own against their upcoming hosts, Reims, as the visitors are unbeaten in each of the last four meetings against their Sunday’s hosts.

However, two of the last four meetings have also been draws and another stalemate can’t be ruled out this Sunday either.
