Real Madrid are looking for a swift return to the win column on the domestic front after a terrible run of results has seen them fail to claim a win in the past month in Spain ahead of a meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu with Espanyol.

In the time Real have failed to win in their homeland, the club have gone on to defeat Liverpool in a stunning 5-2 comeback win from 2-0 down in the Champions League ahead of their battle next week in Europe.

Vinicus Junior scored twice in the second half to end the first 45 2-2, as Eder Militao and a Karim Benzema brace sealed a famous comeback win.

Real have since gone on to fail to beat their two arch rivals in Spain, as the club went on to draw with Atletico Madrid in a local derby at home where Alvaro scored.

Soon after, Real then lost to Barcelona in a 1-0 defeat at home as the club failed to score for the first time in 10 home games.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men do have one foot in the Champions League, but they are sitting behind Barcelona in the league table by nine points now and have lost three times in La Liga and won 16 of their 24 outings.

The club also have one foot out of the Copa del Rey after that loss to Barcelona in the first leg, as they now have to go to the Camp Nou and overturn a one-goal deficit.

Last time out, Ancelotti’s side drew 0-0 with Real Betis, which now means the club’s last win came in a 2-0 victory away to Osasuna, as they also beat Elche 4-0 just three days before that.

As for Espanyol, they have fallen right back into the losing column after a 2-1 defeat to Real Valladolid.

The club are down into 13th now as a result, although this does mean they are still only two points above the relegation zone as just three points separate 18th and 12th in La Liga right now.

Espanyol have won only six times from their 24 outings in La Liga so far, which also means a record of nine defeats and nine draws in the competition. Worse yet, they’ve only managed to secure 30 goals and let in 36 at the same time.

Forebet predicts a win for Real and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
