Real Madrid are close to signing Ghanaian centre-back Oscar Naasei from Granada, with negotiations for the 21-year-old reportedly gathering pace, JoySports has been told.
Naasei is expected to begin his time at the Spanish giants with the club’s reserve side if the move is completed. The arrangement would allow the Accra-born defender to continue his development within the Spanish football system while joining one of the world’s most prominent clubs.
Talks have advanced in recent weeks and could be concluded on Tuesday. Real Madrid are understood to have moved ahead of other clubs interested in signing the defender.
Naasei has made two appearances for Granada in La Liga 2 so far this season. His potential transfer would come after a period of steady progress since joining the club in 2023.
The defender has worked his way through Granada’s ranks and established himself as an important member of the squad. His progress has now attracted the attention of Real Madrid, who are close to securing an agreement for his move.
The expected initial placement with Real Madrid’s reserve side would give Naasei an opportunity to continue developing while remaining within the club’s structure. The proposed move would also mark a significant step in the career of a player who has advanced from Granada’s system to consideration from one of Spain’s leading clubs.
Naasei’s development at club level also led to recognition by Ghana. He was included in the Black Stars squad for the international friendly against Mexico on 22 May.
That call-up resulted in the defender making his senior debut for Ghana, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His involvement with the national team came as he continued to establish himself at Granada and build experience in Spanish football.
The possible move to Real Madrid would therefore represent the latest stage of Naasei’s progression. From joining Granada in 2023, he has moved into the club’s senior squad, made two La Liga 2 appearances this season and earned his first Ghana senior-team opportunity.
With negotiations now moving towards a possible conclusion on Tuesday, Real Madrid are in pole position to sign the Ghanaian defender from Granada. If completed, Naasei would initially continue his development with the club’s reserve side.
