Ghanaian centre-forward Kwaku Karikari, currently with Zelez. Pancevo, has been linked with a move to Romanian club FC Rapid 1923.
Karikari only joined the Serbian Super liga side on 28 July, signing from AC Horsens in a deal worth €600,000. The 24-year-old had spent the previous season on loan at Zelez. Pancevo from Horsens before returning to Denmark at the end of the campaign.
The move back to Serbia came with Karikari’s market value listed at €2m, while his contract with Zelez. Pancevo runs until 30 June 2029. The length of that agreement means any move to Rapid 1923 would require the Romanian club to negotiate with his current employers.
Karikari has yet to feature this season, with Zelez. Pancevo having played one match in both UEFA Conference League qualifying and the Serbian Superliga. He has been registered as a centre-forward and is right-footed.
Born in Obuasi, Ghana, Karikari began his senior career with Liberty Professionals after progressing from the club’s under-19 side. He later spent time on loan at Dreams FC before moving to Serbian football with Jedinstvo Ub in 2022.
The reported interest from Rapid 1923 comes just days after Karikari’s permanent return to Zelez. Pancevo. No transfer agreement has been confirmed, and he remains contracted to the Serbian club through June 2029.
