President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has urged the Black Stars to put the AFCON qualifiers setback behind them and fight to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Mahama delivered a strong message of support, reminding the players of their responsibility to restore national pride after Ghana’s disappointing failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
“Let’s put the AFCON setback behind us and look ahead. This is a chance to redeem yourselves. I believe you will step up in these World Cup qualifiers. If we play well, we will qualify,” President Mahama told the Black Stars.
“Ghanaians will find it in their hearts to fully support the team again. I know you can do it. You’re all talented players. We’re standing with you, not just for the World Cup, but to build a strong, lasting team,” he added.
President Mahama’s visit serves as a morale booster for the Black Stars as they prepare to face Chad on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The team will also face Madagascar in Morocco on Matchday six of Group I on Monday in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
