Prosper Ogum not to blame for Kotoko’s woes – Maxwell Konadu

Head coach of Nsoatreman FC, Maxwell Konadu, has thrown his support behind Prosper Nartey Ogum amid calls for his dismissal following Asante Kotoko’s recent setbacks.

Ogum has faced significant pressure due to Asante Kotoko’s poor performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors have secured only one draw in their last six games, suffering five losses, including a recent 2-1 defeat to Nsoatreman at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday in a week 25 fixture.

Konadu, who previously managed Asante Kotoko, expressed his belief that the team’s issues do not stem from coaching.

“I don’t believe it is a coaching issue, when the players play, it is clear that they are afraid.
The demands placed on the players appear to put them under additional strain, they lack the character required to play as a Kotoko player, which I believe is their issue,” he told Akoma FM.

“This is the critical moment for the players to have the support of the media and fans. Much pressure from these stakeholders will not help matters, instead, fans should support the technical team and playing body in order to turn things around.”

Kotoko has fallen to the 10th position with 33 points. Their next GPL match will be away in Dawu against Dreams FC.
